Details Introduction

Basic Information

●  Origin: Primarily produced in over 20 counties across six prefectures along the Lancang River in Yunnan, including Lincang, Baoshan, Simao, Xishuangbanna, Dehong, and Honghe.

●  Legend of Origin: According to legend, during the Ming Dynasty, a farmer successfully cultivated a high-quality tea with a rich floral aroma and sweet taste, which gradually gained popularity. By the late Qing Dynasty, it had entered the international market.

Production Process

●  Raw Material Selection: Uses tender buds and leaves (one bud with one leaf or one bud with two leaves) from the Lincang large-leaf variety, which are plump, robust, and nutrient-rich.

●  Withering: Allows the tea leaves to lose some moisture, making them softer for subsequent processing.

●  Rolling: Manual rolling breaks the cell walls of the leaves, accelerating the oxidation of polyphenols and shaping the tea into its unique form.

●  Hand Tying: The rolled leaves are carefully tied into a pagoda shape to preserve their integrity and aroma.

●  Fermentation and Drying: After fermentation and drying, the tea develops a rich fragrance and a mellow, robust taste, forming the distinctive Dian Hong Pagoda.

Quality Characteristics

●  Appearance: Tightly knotted strips, robust buds and leaves, pagoda-shaped, golden and lustrous with prominent golden tips.

●  Liquor Color: Brews into a bright, reddish liquor with striking golden hues.

●  Aroma: Fresh and lively, with a strong floral and honey fragrance that is long-lasting.

●  Taste: Rich and intense, with a stimulating yet smooth and delicate profile, accompanied by a lingering sweet aftertaste.

●  Spent Leaves: Evenly red and bright when unfurled, resembling a flower in the cup.

Health Benefits

●  Wellness: The fermentation and drying process reduces polyphenol content, making it gentler on the stomach. It promotes diuresis, detoxification, metabolism, and boosts immunity.

Other Benefits: Also aids in anti-aging, digestion, radiation resistance, skin beautification, and detoxification.
